Hear Mount Pleasant has partnered with the Latino Economic Development Corporation to help strengthen and improve relationships and communication between residents and businesses affected by the live music ban. LEDC provides technical support, training and management assistance, facade improvements, and micro loans to local small businesses. Their technical assistance program provides business owners with one-on-one counseling and access to LEDC's network for specialized consulting services. LEDC also coordinates the DC Area Local Business Alliance which includes over 40 member businesses throughout Ward One.
Together, Hear Mount Pleasant and LEDC will take a proactive approach to concerns raised by residents, especially those who live nearby affected businesses. Hear Mount Pleasant will ensure that residents' hopes and concerns are brought to the table. LEDC will help businesses develop concrete and workable plans to address these issues and provide owners and staff with the training necessary to follow through with them. They will also help businesses to define and implement business strategies that lead to neighborhood improvement. We believe that fostering a strong and responsible business community and improving the quality of life in the neighborhood involves ongoing relationship building and long term collaboration. That's why we are thrilled to be working with an organization with the dedication and capacity to sustain the hard work necessary to achieve our shared goals. |
